Wyyerd Fiber (“Wyyerd”) is seeking a Director, Market Development and Planning who will be
responsible for leading the analysis and prioritization of Wyyerd’s expansion construction
projects throughout the Southern California region and building relationships with municipal and
community leaders to facilitate Wyyerd’s expansion and establish Wyyerd as a strong and
supportive partner of the communities in which it operates.


The Director, Market Development and Planning is a vital part of the Wyyerd team, serving as the leader of the overall expansion project funnel and leading the analysis of projects to prioritize which projects advance through the funnel to be prioritized for implementation.  This entails collaborating with many team members both on the local Wyyerd team and on the central Wyyerd team, with a high degree of multi-tasking and project managing others to keep them on task.

-Identify appropriate points of contact and build relationships with municipality, community and HOA leaders, establishing Wyyerd Wyyerd as a strong partner to the community and earning their trust.
-Lead the efforts of business development to form license and other partnership agreements with local municipalities, HOA’s, builders/developers and other entities, collaborating with and supported by Wyyerd’s central team legal and business development teams.
-Champion the Wyyerd Wyyerd mission, brand and culture in the market and serve as an ambassador on behalf of the Wyyerd local team and Wyyerd central team in engaging with the community.
-Lead the evaluation and prioritization of expansion projects, collaborating with team members locally and centrally; provide thought leadership on appropriate criteria for selection of such projects.
-Leverage available tools and data to estimate construction distances and costs, as part of the analysis for choosing projects; create high level construction engineering designs as needed to inform project evaluation/selection and partner effectively with design/engineering firms.
-Communicate effectively with all teams and individuals, internal and external, involved in the end-to-end process.
-Identify new opportunities/projects throughout the Central Wyyerd area to add to the funnel, both existing areas for overbuild construction and new areas in development for open trench construction; serve as the “keeper” and manager of the overall project funnel.
-Continuously drive to identify opportunities to reduce costs throughout the planning, design, engineering and construction processes.
-Assist in the development of financial projections and business cases for projects as part of the evaluation and prioritization process.
-Assist in identifying and implementing improvements to efficiency via processes or systems/tools.
-Other duties as required.
-High school diploma or equivalent.
-College degree and/or equivalent minimum 5 years experience in similar field.
-Positive attitude, willingness and eagerness to learn new things, team player.
-Strong understanding of the fiber network planning and construction process.
-Working computer knowledge and Microsoft Office knowledge.
-Understanding of basic electricity.
-Understanding and interpreting plant maps.
-Telecommunications wiring color-code competency.
-Ability to pass drug test.
Additional Requirements
-Requires sitting, hearing and talking, occasional standing and walking, and infrequent bending at the waist, twisting of the upper body, kneeling, walking on uneven surfaces, squeezing and crouching.
-Requires infrequent lifting and carrying of from 1-40 pounds.
-Close detail work requiring visual acuity.
-Must be able to perform sedentary work.
