Wyyerd Fiber is seeking a Network Management Technician to assist in the operation of Wyyerd’s telecommunications network facilities. This position plays a critical role in the Network Operations team. The Network Operations team’s primary goals are to see that Wyyerd offers its customers the most advanced telecommunications services in our market and to seek to reduce Wyyerd’s capital expenditure per customer


The Network Management Technician will work with the network operations team to ensure the stability of our network and help manage the additions/expansions as we grow into the future. The position will work directly with the Director of Technical Operations to achieve optimal operating status. The day-to-day operations include all network gear, all network outside plant, everyday installations and trouble tickets and all inventory associated with these categories.

-Work with engineers and other consultants on network design and implementation
-Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation
-Cutover of new edge access equipment
-Oversee and manage the maintenance of all network elements
-Support the Director of Technical Operations in preparation and management of the department budget
-Support Customer Service on Tier 2/3 customer support
-Help provision for new installations using Calix equipment
-Troubleshoot and manage/resolve network trouble and outages
-Oversee ACAM requirements, submitting of all data with geo coordinates to testing database
-Work with peers on the design and implementation of a wireless point to multipoint configuration
-Oversee the warehouse and inventory
-Document inventory and network records
-General IT support for the organization
-Help train technicians with DSL plant
-Support in organizing safety training for all employees in the network
-Maintain and update network operation records and maps

-Knowledge of Calix equipment from an operations and provisioning view
-Knowledge of Metaswitch and cloud based phone systems
-Understanding of networking at L2, L3/telecommunications/internet, and willingness to learn
-Understanding of an ISP network both inside plant and outside plant
-Ability to work with others on all responsibilities
-Three to five years work experience in a network operations role
